At least five students were caught jaywalking from the School of Economics & Social Sciences (SESS) to the School of Information Systems (SIS) last Wednesday afternoon.

According to Andre Loh, an accountancy student who happened to be on scene at that time, two of his classmates jaywalked across the road only to find themselves fined by the Traffic Police.

Jaywalking is an offence that is enforced strictly by the Traffic Police in Singapore. The typical punishment for jaywalking is a $20 fine, although a recalcitrant offender can be sentenced to a maximum of 6 months in jail.
